What should I know before getting an MRI?

Do I need to prepare for my MRI?
In most cases, no special preparation is needed. Always follow the specific instructions provided when scheduling.
Can I have an MRI if I have metal in my body?
If you have implants, pacemakers, surgical clips, or any metal fragments, let your technologist know before your scan. The MRI magnet can interfere with some metal devices, so your safety will be evaluated first.
What should I wear to my MRI appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing without metal zippers, snaps, or buttons. You may be asked to change into a gown to ensure accuracy and safety during your scan.
Will I feel claustrophobic during the MRI?
Windsor Imaging uses one of the least claustrophobic MRI machines available. The open design offers more space and comfort, helping you relax throughout the scan.
How long does an MRI take?
Most MRI scans take between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the area being imaged. Our team will keep you informed every step of the way.
Can I bring someone with me?
You can bring a friend or family member for support. They may be asked to wait outside the scan room during your procedure.
When will I get my MRI results?
Results are typically reviewed by a radiologist and sent to your referring provider promptly. In most cases, your doctor will receive the results within 24–48 hours.
